The challenge

NativZen covers gadgets, apps, hardware and the tech business for Indonesian readers. The editorial team needed a site they could run themselves — publishing several stories a day without a developer in the loop — that loads quickly for readers arriving from Google and social media, and that can earn from advertising.

Our solution

For a newsroom, WordPress is the right tool: most writers and editors already know it, and it handles publishing, scheduling and categories well out of the box. We set it up as a complete news site:

• A magazine layout built on the Gridlove theme, configured with a featured-story slider and home-page sections for reviews, smartphones and the latest articles.
• Clear sections — Gadget, Apps, Hardware, Business, Reviews and How-to — in the main navigation, with category pages for everything else.
• Related posts and social sharing at the end of every article, so readers move on to the next story.
• Google Site Kit connecting Search Console and Analytics, AdSense ad slots placed in the layout, and Akismet to keep comment spam out.
• Cloudflare in front of the site for caching and protection.

The outcome

Since 2023 NativZen has published nearly 5,000 articles, with new stories going out every day — and publishing stays in the editors’ hands. It is also how we work: custom code where a product needs it, WordPress where a newsroom needs it.
